The new 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz: Compact and capable
The new version of the Hyundai Santa Cruz once again delivers distinctive styling and the ability to give you the kind of towing you need for smaller jobs on the work site or on the weekend. It's a personal- sized pickup that gives you a choice of two different engines and also provides the opportunity to run with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Overall, the new 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz is well worth considering if you're looking for a mid-size truck. Here's a preview of what you'll find when you stop by for a test drive at Stamford Hyundai in Stamford CT.

What's new for 2023?
The Hyundai Santa Cruz didn't need any substantial changes for the latest model year but it does now give you some of the most helpful safety technology as standard features. In addition, the 10.3-inch touch screen is newly available in the SL Premium trim. That same trim now comes with adaptive cruise control and more advanced voice recognition software. Hyundai has introduced a new Night model that comes with black 20-inch rims, black door handles, mirror caps and sidesteps.
Trim levels
For 2023, the new Hyundai Santa Cruz gives buyers from Norwalk and Greenwich, CT a total of five trims to choose from:
- SE
- SEL
- Night
- SEL Premium
- Limited
Engines and performance
The new Santa Cruz gives you a choice of two different powertrains. The standard arrangement is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that's good for 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. You can upgrade to a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that can generate 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are teamed up with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive is available with either powertrain choice. The new Hyundai Santa Cruz can go from zero to 60 mph in 9.2 seconds.

Towing and payload
The unibody Hyundai Santa Cruz can tow as much as the other unibody truck in its class, the Honda Ridgeline. That means you can pull up to 5,000 pounds if you're running with Hyundai's more powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder can tow up to 3,500 pounds. Payload in the new 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz ranges from 1,568 pounds with the smaller engine up to 1,749 pounds with the bigger power plant.
Fuel economy
The best fuel efficiency is available with the base-level engine and front-wheel drive, giving you 22 MPG on city streets and 26 MPG on highways around Port Chester and Harrison NY. The turbocharged engine delivers 19 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway. Interestingly enough, the editors at Car and Driver ran that same turbocharged engine in a highway test and reached 30 MPG.

Interior highlights
The Hyundai Santa Cruz has what reviewers have called one of the nicest cabins in the mid-size pickup segment. It comes with attractive materials and contemporary features that you'd find in more expensive vehicles. The bed has a lockable tonneau cover and a handy in-bed trunk. An 8-inch touch screen comes standard and so does a six-speaker stereo system. You can upgrade to a 10.25-inch touch screen, wireless device charging, a sunroof and an eight-speaker Bose premium stereo.
Safety technology
The Hyundai Santa Cruz now comes with some of the most desirable safety features as standard equipment including a rear view camera, blind-spot monitoring and a rear cross-traffic alert system. Look over our new Santa Cruz trucks and schedule a test drive at Stamford Hyundai in Stamford CT.
